Pixi Make Up Fixing Mist Review

Product reviews are something I don’t do enough of on my blog. And this is the first time I’ve felt strongly enough about a setting spray to dedicate a whole post to it.

I got the Pixi Makeup Fixing Mist in a Cult Beauty goody bag at the end of last year and I’ve only just gotten around to using it. It retails for £16 for 80ml in the UK, which is more than I’d usually pay for a setting spray but it’s what you can expect to pay for the Pixi brand.

I’ll start off with the positive things. The spray smells incredible and it performs great. I’m never really blown away by makeup sprays but I feel like this is one of the best I’ve used in terms of how it makes my makeup look.

Sadly, this fixing mist has one major drawback for me: it’s impossible to use without feeling like you’ve just set your makeup with a Super Soaker!

I don’t know what’s going on with the nozzle but it just sprays a single beam that comes out way too fast. This definitely shouldn’t be called a mist as it’s impossible to do any misting with it- it’s more of a blast!

I did wonder if perhaps mine was faulty as none of the other setting sprays I’ve tried in the past have been as difficult to use but I’ve read a few reviews that also comment on the nozzle being problematic.

If I apply it too soon after doing my mascara, I end up smudging half of it down my face which never happens with other sprays!

For £16, I’d expect the packaging to be as amazing as the product. It’s a shame because I really like what’s inside the bottle but I think I would need to try transferring this to another spray bottle to use it!

I think this is the only Pixi product I’ve tried- if you’ve got some favourites from the brand, let me know in the comments what else I should try!

  1. This always looks so good online, but I don’t ever use setting sprays so haven’t gravitated towards trying it. Do love Pixi products though. Shame about the spray, I’ve used their Milky Mist which comes in an identical looking mist bottle and the spray action on that was very light. Maybe you got a dud? Hate when you’ve been super soakered in the face! x

    1. I’m not sure what it is- I’ve found it does work a little better if I press down really hard but it’s still just a beam of product rather than a mist. It is a nice product though! x
