I’ve been using these two products on different sides of my face for weeks now- I’m over halfway through the glow tonic- and I really wanted to write this post and have loads to tell you about the differences between these toners but I have struggled with this!
For some background, I have used the Freedom toner before and initially couldn’t see what it was doing for me but I did end up repurchasing as I felt like it made my skin look a little brighter. I was using this toner before I got my hands on the Pixi one in a Cult Beauty goody bag.
Pixi Glow Tonic retails for £18 in the UK, and the Freedom dupe is currently still available for £6, even after the brand was discontinued.
Both these toners have quite a strong smell- but they’re not the same scent at all. The Pixi one has a kind of floral smell whereas the Freedom smells a lot more chemical.
Looking at the ingredients list, it becomes apparent that they actually have very little in common. The Freedom toner has a lot more chemicals in it compared to Pixi’s natural ingredients.
When it comes to performance, I don’t have much to say. I can’t see any major differences in how the two halves of my face look.
For me, the biggest performance difference seems to be in how my hormonal acne breakout around my chin is healing up. Using the Freedom toner on its own hadn’t touched this and I do feel like the Pixi side of my face has faded better. I have since switched to using Glow Tonic all over my face and my breakout is finally healing up nicely (I did first manage to dry out my skin and make it a whole lot worse but that’s a different story!)
I think if I’d never used a glycolic toner before, I probably would have been more impressed with the Pixi one but I’m not convinced it’s worth the hype. It’s worth it for me though if it does clear up my breakout!
Overall, if you just want a product to give your skin a radiance boost and aren’t too concerned about ingredients, the Freedom one is a great budget option. If you’re willing to spend more and want natural ingredients, the Pixi one definitely worked a little better for me but I haven’t decided yet if I am going to repurchase. I suspect I’ll probably miss the effects after I’ve stopped using it!
Have you used either of these products? How did you get on? x
Great review! I’ve tried both and the Pixi definitely worked better on me! x

I’m loving the Pixi a lot more just using on its own but I couldn’t see a noticeable difference in what it did to my skin compared to the Freedom x

I have not tried any dupes for the Pixi tonic… but I use Pixi and I love it!
