I don’t know what it is with Rimmel mascaras but I’ve never been impressed with any I’ve tried from the brand. The purple packaging and the need to pick up a third item on 3-for-2 in Boots drew me to the new Scandaleyes Wow Wings mascara.
I wasn’t expecting to be blown away by this mascara but I was hoping it could change my opinion of Rimmel mascaras.
Price
This retails for £6.99, which is a pretty affordable mascara when compared to other classic drugstore brands like L’Oreal and Maybelline, but not the cheapest option available.
Packaging
This is bright purple which definitely drew me in and comes in a standard plastic tube with silver lettering. It is on the chunky side but I know that plenty of mascara tubes look like this.
Application
The rubber wand is really unique with a wing on one side and a standard curve on the other. Instructions are printed on the tube explaining how to apply this- you’re supposed to start with the wing and then brush through with the curved side.
This is a really wet formula that sadly never works well on my lashes. It clumps and makes my lashes look spidery- which I’m not a fan of. I did leave it a few weeks and found the formula slightly better once it’s dried up a little but it’s still difficult for me to work with.
This is the best picture I could get of how it looks on me. No, it’s not that bad but it did take quite a lot of work to get this stage.
Overall, this failed to impress me like I wanted it to. It’s okay but it’s too clumpy for me and just doesn’t make my lashes look how I want them. If you’re looking for a super black stay-put formula and don’t mind the spidery look, this mascara will probably work for you but it sadly wasn’t for me.
Have you tried this mascara? Let me know your thoughts! x
Such a shame this was clumpy as the packaging is gorgeous!

I know! I’m so bad at buying products for their packaging! x

Oh dear, I wouldn’t be too impressed with that either 😕 what I do like to do with wetter mascaras is keep an old wand around that was really good for separating, and use it to get rid of the clumps. Could potentially help with this one? Xx
