ColourPop No Filter Foundation and Setting Powder Review

I mentioned both of these products in my last ColourPop haul and they were two things I was excited to try as ColourPop venture into base products.

I’m reviewing these two together but I’ll try to stick to the same format I usually use for reviews.

Foundation

Packaging

This comes in a cute glass bottle decorated with stars. It has a pump but no lid; you have to turn the nozzle to the side to lock it so it’s still good for travel.

Price

This retails for $12 on the ColourPop website, around £10 converted at face value but if you factor in customs fees to the UK, it’s pretty much the same price in dollars as it is in sterling. At around £10-12 it’s about the same cost as most drugstore foundations.

Application

This is a very liquidy foundation but it blends easily with either a brush or a sponge. I have the shade Light 50, which is very yellow. I’m yellow-toned but I feel like it might not be quite the perfect shade for me (to be honest, that’s rare to find!). It does match my skin very well and the coverage and finish look amazing but it gives me a sort of foundation mask- like it looks obvious that I’m wearing foundation. I’m not sure if that’s due to the undertone just being slightly too warm for me or what but I prefer a more natural look.

Wear

I haven’t yet had this on my face for more than a few hours and it did start to look kind of dry in that time so I feel like you would need a really hydrating base underneath to get a full day out of it.

Powder

Packaging

This is the cutest little pot I’ve ever seen. Initially, I assumed there wasn’t much product in here because of the size but there’s 7.5g, which isn’t much less than my other loose powders at 8g-10g. The design is pretty simple like most powers and it has holes in a plastic sifter to get the product. The holes are on the large side as you can see so be careful how you store this or it will get very messy when you open it!

Price

This is $9 on the ColourPop site- roughly £7 but again I’m going to consider this as being in the £7-£9 range. Like the foundation, it’s on par with most drugstore options but not the cheapest on the market.

Application

Applied with the Real Techniques setting brush and patted sparingly around my face, this does a great job of mattifying and brightening and keeping my oils at bay for most of the day. I tend to use this just to set my base as I found it looked too cakey when used over makeup like a finishing powder or when I attempted to bake my under eyes with it (I never do this so it could have been user error but it didn’t work for me!)

Wear

I’m really impressed with how long this keeps my skin looking matte. If I’m wearing it all day, my skin can start to look a little dry in places (I have combination skin) but I find that with most powders. Overall, I think it works better for me at keeping my t-zone a bit less oily but isn’t the best for under my eyes- though it does look great when first applied. It all depends on your skin though!
