We’ve reached one year of empties posts on my blog! To celebrate, I’ve been firing through products to talk about (I mean, that was coincidental but…)
Makeup
Ciate Wonderwand Mascara
This mini lasted forever but the last bit was starting to flake off my lashes which it definitely didn’t do when it was new. I thought it was a great mascara that I would use again but there are plenty of more affordable options that I like just as much.
Repurchase? No but I would use again
ColourPop Supershock Shadow KathleenLights
Now, I know you’re thinking I can’t possibly have finished this because nobody has ever finished a whole eyeshadow but this one did arrive broken when I bought it and it was never quite right even after smushing it all back together so the last bits were just crumbling.
Repurchase? Yes when I’ve got through some eye products
Too Faced Hangover Primer mini
I really loved how hydrating this was and how my makeup looked applied over the top but I felt like my makeup looked weird at the end of the day whenever I used this and the Revolution Pro Prime & Hydrate gives me the same hydration with a smaller price tag.
Repurchase? No
ColourPop Lippie Pencil Aquarius
I adored this lip pencil but sadly the last bit of lead fell out of the plastic.
Repurchase? Yes
Soap & Glory Hocus Focus Liquid Illuminator
This was my first liquid highlight type product but I much preferred using this mixed in with foundation for a little glow.
Repurchase? Nah
Avon Magix HD Finishing Powder
This was my first loose powder and I did enjoy it but I’ve found other powders that work better for me since. This one made my skin really soft and was a good finishing powder but it wasn’t really any good for setting makeup.
Repurchase? Maybe
L’Oreal Miss Manga Mascara
There is some left in the tube but it was starting to flake on me which it never did when it was new so I think it’s just been open too long. I think this is an underrated mascara that performs great for an everyday look and can also be built up for a doll-like look.
Repurchase? Yes when I get through some other mascaras
Revolution Pro Hylauronic Fix
I liked this as a facial spray but I didn’t notice it doing anything for skincare that a normal setting spray doesn’t.
Repurchase? Maybe
Skincare
Pixi Glow Tonic
If you read my review of this vs the Freedom glycolic toner, you’ll know I liked it but wasn’t blown away. When I started to tone my whole face with it, however, I do feel like it worked to improve radiance and the appearance of blemishes on my skin.
Repurchase? Already have
Garnier Eye 2in1 Makeup Remover
This was a repurchase for me, and I did enjoy it for days when I had heavy eye makeup on but I feel like micellar water does the same thing.
Repurchase? Maybe
The Ordinary Buffet
I’ve heard nothing but good things about this peptide serum so I was really excited to try it. I don’t think I used it consistently enough to know for sure what it was doing for my skin but I did enjoy it.
Repurchase? Yes when I get through some more skincare
Tata Harper Regenerating Cleanser
To be fair, it says ‘exfoliating’ on the bottle but I didn’t realise this was going to contain scrubbing particles. I liked it but it meant I had to use a separate cleanser for my eyes. As a second cleanse, I did enjoy it and it made my skin feel great.
Repurchase? This is £37, or more for the bigger bottle so no but I would use again
Sunday Riley Good Genes mini
I have mixed feelings about this sample. I feel like it worked to refresh my skin and improve fine lines but the effects didn’t seem to last and I had to keep using it. After continued use, I also noticed that my skin was starting to look patchy around my pigmentation areas. I’ve never used a chemical exfoliant before so it could just be my skin getting used to it though.
Repurchase? It’s esspensive so no
Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturiser
This mini lasted ages but I mostly kept it in my bathroom for putting on after a drying face mask, or sometimes for travel. I liked it but I prefer the moisture surge gel from Clinique.
Repurchase? No
Haircare
Avon Hair Mask
I normally enjoy these but I actually felt like this left my hair a bit dry and stripped, even though it was very soft and shiny. I was mostly trying to add moisture to my hair so it wasn’t for me sadly.
Repurchase? No
The Body Shop Rainforest Detangling Spray
I’ve been without a detangling spray since finishing this off at the start of the month and it’s been hell for my poor curls. This one was decent but I don’t think it’s anything special compared to cheaper options.
Repurchase? Probably not
Aussie Frizz Fixer Shampoo
I’ve always liked Aussie shampoos and this one is really good at taming frizz but it also seems to leave my natural curl looking a bit flat so it’s not my favourite one.
Repurchase? No
Bath & Body
Baylis & Harding Midnight Fig & Pomegranate Body Wash
This was a huge bottle but I got through it pretty quick because of the gel-like formula. I liked the scent and this did lather up nicely but I have other body washes I prefer.
Repurchase? Don’t think I can but I would use again
Avon Bubblegum Bubble Bath
I love these bubble baths from Avon as they smell great, provide lots of bubbles and last a lot longer than others I’ve had for some reason.
Repurchase? Yes
Avon Life Perfume
I mostly bought this for the packaging. It was quite pricey for an Avon perfume and I don’t think it’s any better than their cheaper offerings, though I did like it.
Repurchase? No
Misc
Barry M Marshmallow Lip Scrub
I loved this when I first got it but it went sort of wet and sticky pretty quickly.
Repurchase? Probably
Oskia Citylife I-Zone Balm
I really liked this and even had it in a favourites post a few months back but its £55 price tag puts it out of my budget.
Repurchase? No, but would use again
PS…Anti Pollution Wipes
I can’t really say how well they defend against pollution like they claim but they work just as well as any other cheap wipes from Primark.
Repurchase? Yes
PS…Smoothing Dead Sea Mask
There was so much product in here I could have easily had a football team around for a pampering session all from one 80p packet…In all seriousness, I did share this with a friend and still got a third use out of it. We both saw noticeable differences in the brightness of the skin and I even saw some improvement to the appearance of pores. The effects weren’t too longlasting but budget masks don’t need to be!
Repurchase? Yes if I spot it in Primark again
Holler and Glow Fruit Loop mask
This was a jelly type consistency that left my skin feeling soft and refreshed. And I picked it up for a bargain 50p!
Repurchase? Yes if I see it again
So that’s everything I used up in August! I’m not sure how I got through so many products but I think September will be a slower month for finishing things.
I wanted to try the revolution setting spray, I’m using the Gerard slay all day but I’m finding it hard to try anything else because it is such a favourite of mine. I love empties posts, I like seeing what people use up

They’re my favourite kind of posts to read! Setting sprays are hard I think I’ve tried loads now and not really found the one haha the revolution one is worth a try though

It takes a while before you see any significant changed in your skin thanks to the glow tonic, but when you do, you can’t stop using it!
I also prefer the moisture surge to the dramatically yellow moisturiser. There’s something about its gel like consistency that makes it more pleasant to use.
