Barry M Unicorn Primer Drops Beauty Elixir Review

I love unicorns about as much as I love trying new primers so the new Barry M Unicorn Primer Drops Beauty Exlir looked right up my street and that’s what I’m going to be reviewing today.

Packaging

Easily one of the best things about this product is the stunning packaging. The bottle is a kind of purple frosted glass with a silver unicorn on the front and a dropper. My first thoughts on the packaging and the whole unicorn thing is that it looks like it’s duping the Farsali Unicorn Essence, which I’ve never tried.

Price

This retails for £7.99 for 15ml of product, which is on the pricey side when you consider most primers are double that quantity but it’s a very liquid formula so you probably don’t use as much.

Application

The primer comes with a dropper to disperse the product as it’s a shiny pink serum type liquid. The dropper isn’t the best I’ve ever used and I found it hard to get product with it but it spreads evenly on the face once I’ve got it out and doesn’t make me look like a shiny pink unicorn like I was afraid it would.

Wear

Applied to the face, this makes my skin looks healthy and dewy but it doesn’t give me a glow like I expected it to. Once I’ve got base makeup on, I can’t really see the effects of the primer anymore unless I’m wearing something really light coverage.

But this primer did surprise me in how well my makeup lasts when I wear it. Normally, I feel like primers do go some way to extend the life of my makeup but nothing that’s particularly noticeable.

Overall, I really like this primer. It’s not something I would reach for every day but I tend to vary my primer from glowy to moisturising to silicone or pore-filling. I think this looks nice for a subtle glow on light makeup days.

Will you be picking this up?
