Product Empties #14 October 2018

It’s time for another instalment of what beauty products I’ve used up and my thoughts on them. I tried to record this as I went along so it was less work for me at the end of the month but empties posts still take a lot of time. They’re one of my favourites though so I hope you enjoy as much as I do!

Makeup

Empties 01

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Liquid Opal

I’ve been trying to use this mini liquid highlighter up for a while. I adore the pressed powder version of Opal but liquid highlights just aren’t for me. Used under makeup, this was pretty and gave a similar effect to their Backlight Priming Filter but I’m not rushing out to repurchase.

Repurchase? No

PS…My Perfect Colour Concealer

This is a really nice concealer for the bargain price of £2. It’s on the lighter coverage side but I don’t always want heavy and I really like the finish. I’m not the biggest fan of the packaging because it doesn’t disperse much product but it’s a minor thing.

Repurchase? Already have a backup but I have a few concealers to get through first

ColourPop No Filter Concealer

This is an ok concealer but it didn’t wow me. The shade isn’t quite right for me but it did oxidise almost immediately after applying so it worked out. I liked this for priming my eyelids or for cut creases but there are better concealers out there that are easier for me to get hold of.

Repurchase? No

Essence Make Me Brow

This brow gel lasted forever! It started running out months ago but ever quite made it to an empties post until now. For the price, this does a really good job and I’d much rather travel with this than the pricier Benefit alternative in case I lose it etc.

Repurchase? Yes

I Heart Revolution Cucumber Fixing Spray

I liked this. It’s nothing life-changing but it smells good, is cheap enough and helps makeup sink into my face.

Repurchase? Yes

Haircare

Empties 03

L’Oreal Dream Lengths Shampoo & Conditioner

I did enjoy using this and I can see how it works for long hair since it made mine really soft and shiny but I noticed that my hair would look dirtier quicker whenever I used this and I couldn’t go longer than a couple of days without washing.

Repurchase? Maybe

Neutrogena T-Gel Shampoo

A staple for my flaky scalp, I don’t know what I’d do without this shampoo.

Repurchase? Always

John Freida Frizz Ease Heat Protecting Spray

I’ve had this heat spray for years due to not using heat styling on my hair all that much anymore. I guess it did the job but it’s nothing special and I was certainly glad it made the list this month to free up some space.

Repurchase? I have multi-use products that contain heat protection now so probably not

Bath & Body

Empties 02

Dove Exfoliating Body Scrub- Kiwi & Cool Aloe

This has a lovely kiwi scent and felt very creamy and natural on the skin but it wasn’t quite scrubby enough for me.

Repurchase? No

Avon Apple Crumble Bubble Bath

This did the job- smelt nice and foamed up nicely.

Repurchase? Yes

Soap & Glory The Righteous Butter Body Wash

I did want to keep this for use as a shaving cream, which was my preferred use for it but I decided to just get it finished as I have plenty of body washes to get through. Nice, but nothing special.

Repurchase? Probably not

St Tropez Tanning Body Lotion

I’ve had this way too long and the consistency had gone a bit weird but it was nice enough if you like products like this and it left a very natural glow to the skin.

Repurchase? Probably not

Skincare

Empties 04

Superdrug Vitamin C Gel Moisturiser

I really like this range but I’m not sure what I thought about this product. It wasn’t as lightweight as other gel moisturisers I’ve tried but it did keep my skin hydrated through summer.

Repurchase? Maybe but I have a lot of moisturisers to get through

Bioderma Sensiblo H2O Micellar Water

I bought this again in desperation after nothing seemed to be clearing my hormonal breakouts. I’ve always loved this product but I don’t think it’s worth the money with so many affordable options out there.

Repurchase? Probably not

The Ordinary Salicylic Acid

This has been a lifesaver for my breakouts. It’s not a miracle product and I did get carried away and managed to completely dry out my skin when I first got it but used properly I think it’s great.

Repurchase? Yes

L’Oreal Smooth Sugars Clear Scrub

This was the kiwi variety and I loved it. I featured this in a favourites post a while back and I continued to enjoy it. It was fun to use- not as messy as expected and left my skin soft and clear.

Repurchase? Yes

Newtons Labs T-Zone Spot Zapping Gel

I’ve never really found that these types of products do very much and this one was no exception. It was okay at cooling down the red, painful kind of spots but no good at clearing up the breakouts I’ve been getting.

Repurchase? No

Masks & misc

Empties 0

Garnier SkinActive Moisture Bomb Tissue Mask

I’m not sure how long I’ve had this waiting to be used but it’s one of the older masks in my collection. I picked this out on a day when I didn’t have any specific skincare needs and just needed a refreshing pick-me-up, which it was fine for but nothing amazing.

Repurchase? Probably not

PS…Blueberry Deep Cleanse Bubble Mask

Not my favourite mask I’ve tried from Primark. Did foam and bubble up nicely and, as usual, there’s load in the packet but I didn’t notice anything on my skin.

Repurchase? No

Skinfood Mugwort Sheet Mask

My skin did look clearer and brighter after using this. Even if the effects didn’t last, it was nice for a skin pick-me-up.

Repurchase? Yes

PS…Micellar Cleansing Wipes

Pretty standard pack of wipes from Primark. I’m not sure how good the micellar aspect is as I haven’t used them much on my face but they do the job.

Repurchase? Yes

Revolution Pro Lip Scrub

I thought I was going to love this because it comes in a stick form but it was messy and waxy and just not that effective for me.

Repurchase? No

So that’s everything I got through in October! I do have a few products that are getting close to finishing but that’ll save until next time.

Thanks for reading x

  1. The shade of my Colourpop no filter concealer is way too light as well so I’m happy it oxidizes too lol. I do think it’s great quality for $6 (but since I live in Europe, it’s hard for me to get a hold of it as well)
