Top 18 Beauty in 2018

There’s been plenty of these top lists all over YouTube and blogs as we say goodbye to 2018 and head into 2019. I’m finding it really interesting what beauty products everyone enjoyed most this year, so I’ve put together my own list of the top 18 beauty products I loved in 2018.

I haven’t split this into categories but I think I’ve got something to cover most areas.

Lancome Prep & Hydrate Illuminating Primer

I feel bad for including this because it’s such a recent discovery and also bloody expensive but I just love the glow it gives my face. With this primer, my skin is smooth and radiant without looking greasy.

MUA Pro Base Primer

From one end of the price spectrum to the other, this vitamin-enriched primer is great for hydration and also makes my makeup last all day. I think this has now been replaced or repackaged as the Pro Base Moisturising Primer but the ingredients are identical.

Skin 79 BB Cream

I discovered this amazing BB Cream in 2018 and I’ve hardly used foundation since. To me, this is just as good with incredible coverage that still looks natural on my skin and lasts all day.

Revolution Conceal & Define Concealer

This concealer has probably earned a place in a lot of top lists of the year and it’s definitely been one of my favourites too.

Max Factor Radiant Lift Foundation

This is probably the only foundation that’s really wowed me recently unless you count the Skin 79 BB Cream. I use it more for nights out etc. as it’s a little heavier on the coverage but it looks radiant and natural on the skin.

BECCA Hydra Mist Set & Refresh Powder

Another super expensive new love I found in 2018 was this BECCA powder. While the concept is a bit gimicky- the powder feels like water when you apply it to your face- I don’t have to worry about touching up my makeup or looking too dry and cakey when I use this.

Too Faced Papa Don’t Peach Blush

I feel bad for including so many highend products but I also love Milani Luminoso as an affordable alternative- I’ve just used this one a little more.

CB 16

Physician’s Formula Butter Bronzer

I feel like everyone loves this but it’s so worth trying out! This has even replaced my Body Shop Honey Bronzer which is another great option.

Doll Beauty Doll Light Highlighter in Shine Bright

I wasn’t overly impressed when I first tried this but it’s quickly become one of my favourites. It can be built up to be super blinding but it still looks natural on the skin and blends onto my cheekbones without emphasising texture.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam Palette

I’m sure this is on a lot of people’s lists but for good reason. This was a standout palette in my collection this year and the one I reached for the most. I don’t wear eyeshadow all that much but I think my love for this will continue into 2019.

ABH soft glam 04

Maybelline Brow Drama Sculpting Gel

I was going to mention Benefit Gimme Brow here and swapped it for this cheaper alternative at the last minute. While I haven’t been using this Maybelline brow gel for long, I’m actually enjoying it more than Gimme Brow at the moment. Full review to follow in 2019!

BH Cosmetics Eye Lights

Why is nobody talking about these? If you’re after a shimmery liquid eyeshadow, these are a really affordable option. The bottles are small and there aren’t tons of shades yet but I love the shade Gal Pal best.

Lancome Monseir Big Mascara

I will say I think there are affordable alternatives to this mascara if you’re patient and willing to build them up like the NYX Worth the Hype gives a very similar look to my lashes but there’s something about this that just works better for me personally and takes less effort.

Revolution x Soph Extra Spice Palette

This is my favourite drugstore palette release of the year. Revolution and associated brands seem to have churned out a lot this year but this was the standout for me.

Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink Lipstick

I only picked up one shade but I hope to try more in 2019. This is probably the best liquid lipstick formula I’ve ever tried. I compared it to the L’Oreal Chocolats range but the shade range is ultimately better with these.

Primark PS…Lipsticks

If you’ve got a Primark near you and you’re not sure what to try from their makeup range, I’d suggest their lip options. Their matte and lustre lipsticks are amazing for the price and I also really recommend their velvet matte lip crayons.

ColourPop x KathleenLights Supershock Highlight in On the Cusp

I had to feature a CP product here and I went for a less obvious choice with this highlight from the KathleenLights Zodiac collection. I’ve not tried any of their other Supershock highlighters but I really like this formula.

ColourPop Lippie Stix

I was torn between these and their Lux Lipsticks which I also love, but I feel like these have surprised me more. Whereas I loved the lux lipsticks instantly, I initially thought I didn’t like the lippie stix because of the shade I tried. I since picked up a set of reds and they are all stunning and suit me much better.

That’s my top 18 for 2018! What are you hoping to try in 2019?
