9 Underrated Makeup Products

I wanted to do a positive blog post in honour of Valentine’s Day, so I’ve compiled a list of some of my top makeup products that don’t get enough love in beauty bloggersville. Hollife did this idea too on her YT channel if you want to check that out, I even coincidentally picked some of the same products as she did!

I did a post on underrated beauty products back in April last year where I mentioned both makeup and skincare, but this one is just makeup and then maybe I will do a skincare post separately this time.

#1 Bourjois Healthy Mix Glow Primer in Apricot (£9.99, Superdrug)

Bourjois Healthy Mix Primer

I’m not sure if this primer is underrated or just not talked about because it’s still quite new but this has been a great addition to my makeup collection. I have the apricot shade, which gives me a gorgeous glow under foundation or on no makeup days and looks great if I’ve tanned too.

#2 Skin79 Super+ Beblesh Balm BB Cream (£18.32, LookFantastic)

Skin79 Super Beblesh Balm Gold

This BB cream is just as good as foundation for me. I have the gold variety and it gives incredible coverage whilst still looking fresh and skin-like. There are three different types but they’re all a skin-adapting shade of light so unfortunately not suited to darker skintones but a really nice product if you can find a match.

#3 ColourPop It’s a Princess Thing Palette ($20, ColourPop)

While I’ve heard plenty of good things about this palette, I’ve heard equally as much from people saying they’re not going to buy it because the shades look kind of boring. I was also a little uninspired by this until I had it in my hands but the shades are so pretty, especially those shimmers! It leans towards the neutral side but it’s not at all boring and deserves more love!

#4 wet n wild Retractable Brow Pencil (£3, Beauty Bay)

wet n wild

I’ve only just started using this but it’s really impressed me so far. It’s a triangular shape but it’s much thinner than standard triangle pencils. The shade range is terrible but the shade medium brow matches me perfectly and lasts really well.

#5 Too Faced #TFNOFILTER Selfie Powders (£17.85, Amazon)

Too Faced #Selfie Powder

To be fair, I think this powder palette has now been discontinued so not many people are going to be talking about it anyway. I picked this up over the summer in my local TK Maxx for £12.99 and I really love the way all three of these powders make my makeup look. If you’re looking for something a bit different to a matte setting powder and you can still pick this up cheap enough, I’d definitely recommend giving this palette a go.

#6 BH Cosmetics Eyelights (£7, Beauty Bay)

BH Cosmetics Eyelights

I’m forever mentioning these stunning liquid eyeshadows but I thought they were worthy of some more love. The orange shade Gal Pal is my fave and one I always get compliments when I wear it. I will say they are a little small and I’m not sure how much product you get but if you can pick them up cheaper than their £7 RRP, I’d recommend trying them out.

#7 Max Factor Creme Bronzer Light Gold (£9.99, Superdrug)

Max Factor Creme Bronzer

Max Factor as a brand is underrated, IMO but this bronzer is a real drugstore hidden gem. The shade Light Gold is probably a little too pale for me at my most tanned but I think there are a couple of deeper shades and it’s just a lovely natural everyday bronzer.

#8 I Heart Revolution Chocolate Glosses (£3, Revolution)

I mentioned these chocolate-themed lip glosses in my January beauty edit and I’ve since picked up more shades because needs. I’m getting more into wearing lip gloss and these a great formula for me- not too sticky and not too pigmented but just that natural glossy lip look.

#9 Max Factor Radiant Lift Foundation (£14.99, Boots)

Max Factor RadiantLift Foundation

I didn’t even realise I’d picked out another Max Factor product but this foundation comes with good coverage, a stunning radiant finish and a great colour match for me (I’m in 45 Warm Almond). On the pricier side of drugstore foundations but frequently on offer.

That’s all the products I think deserve some more love! Let me know in the comments if you’d like to see a skincare version!
