April Empties 2020

Monthly empties posts come around so quickly, don’t they? With another month in lockdown, I wasn’t using much beyond skincare but I did manage to finish off a few bits. Read on to see what I thought and what I’d repurchase.

Revolution Pro Foundation Drops F6

The finish and buildability of this foundation is one of my faves and the shade F6 is a good match for me. I like the dropper and the compact packaging but it’s worth noting that this only contains 18ml of product and retails for £7. If this was a standard 30ml size like most foundations are, the price would be closer to £12, which is something that annoys me about Revolution brand products as they are not always as cheap as they seem.

Repurchase? Maybe

Collection Lash Surge Mascara

I accidentally picked this mascara up in a brown/black shade but it was actually really nice. This is probably my favourite budget mascara and I liked having it in my collection

Blank Canvas Cosmetics Winging It Liner

I did like this liquid liner at first- it has a precise felt-tip style nib. But it no longer performs like it did when first opened and I just don’t use liquid liner enough to justify buying this again.

Skincare

Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Sleep Mask

I have the full size of this but I wanted to try out the mini first. As a night cream, this really does sink into the skin quickly and I could see its AHA properties working but only if I used it pretty much every night.

PS…Daily Smoothing Tonic

I’m annoyed at myself that I didn’t pick up another bottle of this toner when I was in the big Primark store in Birmingham before lockdown happened. This was nice and gentle on my skin as a 3.5% glycolic acid tonic so I think it would be a good introduction to glycolic acid but I was a bit confused at its labelling as a ‘daily’ smoothing tonic considering it contains exfoliating ingredients which I wouldn’t personally use every day. I loved the packaging though- it’s the type where you push your cotton pad onto the dispenser.

M&S Formula Absolute Day Cream

I bought the full size of this after trying out the mini- well played, M&S. This day cream has pretty similar ingredients to the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream and I like what it does for my skin. Plus, it has SPF.

PS…Bi-Phase Eye Makeup Remover

I loved this almost as much as the Lancome one. It didn’t sting my eyes, removed heavy makeup well and was great for contact lenses too. I’m just not sure if this is easy to get hold of in Primark any more but I’ll be back in store as soon as I can to look for it!

Etude House Sunprise SPF 50

I’m pretty late to the ‘you must wear SPF every day’ party but it’s something I want to incorporate into my routine a lot more. This one had a typical suncream texture that I didn’t love but it was fine under makeup, I’ve just found one from Biore that I like more.

Repurchase? Probably not

Haircare

Yes To…Carrots Shampoo & Conditioner

I’m glad products like this exist- especially the conditioner as I normally have to use a medicated shampoo for my scalp and I hate not having a matching conditioner. It wasn’t as effective for my scalp as I would have liked but maybe if you only have a moderately itchy of flaky scalp you will like it better.

Living Proof Restore Mask Treatment

I really liked this forwhat it did for my curls more than what it did as a conditioning treatment. I’ve never really been that impressed with Living Proof for their price tag but I would consider the full size of this.

Avon Goodnight Sweetheart Bubble Bath

I love Avon bubble baths! I’m not sure this didanything to help with making me sleepy but it smells good, it’s cheap and the bubbles last a long time.

Jack Wills Body Butter

I’ve still got a few of these minis hanging around from a Jack Wills advent calendar a few years ago. Body butters aren’t really my thing in general and this one was more like a lotion- I used it for shaving more than anything.
