June Empties 2020

I know 2020 has been a bizarre experience for most of us but I still can’t believe we’ve passed halfway through the year already! Read on to find out what I finished up in June and what I would buy again.

Prai Throat Cream

I adored this stuff when I first tried it last year. I feel like it made a visible difference to the appearance of my neck and I did enjoy using it up. I think if you’re using a heavier duty moisturiser, you don’t really need this extra step but it did work for me.

Repurchase? Maybe

Some By Mi BHA Toner

I bought this from YesStyle because I wanted an affordable BHA product. This did the job and smelt like tea tree which I liked but I wouldn’t go out of my way to repurchase- especially if I can only get it from YesStyle.

Repurchase? Maybe

PS… Vitamin C Moisturiser

I reviewed the Primark Vitamin C Skincare range here and it’s still my most popular post now. This is a decent moisturiser for the price and I love the pump packaging. I didn’t notice any incredible differences to my skin but it smelt nice and was nice to use and very affordable.

Repurchase? Maybe if available

PS… Primark Vitmin C Serum

This reminded me a lot of the Superdrug one in that it smelt nice, has really similar dropper style packaging, mixes with other products well and is generally fine but doesn’t do anything amazing for me.

Repurchase? Probably not

PS… Vitamin C Pads

I didn’t realise I’d used up so much of this collection! I used a few of these pads but they’d been open a while and I didn’t feel comfortable using them on my skin so I used them up most as brush cleaning pads.

Repurchase? No

Face Masks

The Inkey List Kaolin Clay Mask

I was so excited to try this. The Inkey List are a good affordable brand so I expected to love their clay mask. It was fine but I didn’t fall in love with it as much as I thought I would.

Reprchase? Maybe

Pixi T-Zone Peel Off Mask

I reviewed this Pixi Peel Off Mask here and said then that it’s one of the better peel off masks I’ve tried and it generally does peel off well. I don’t really go for masks like this anymore but it does work if this is what you’re looking for.

Repurchase? No

PS…Charcoal Detox Mask

I love this pump packaging and how Primark can make a charcoal bubble mask for £2.50. Was it life changing? No, but it’s the kind of mask that’s handy to have in the bathroom cupboard when my skin needs a detox.

Repurchase? Yes

Revolution Pink Clay Mask

I find Revolution Skincare face masks area bit hit and miss but I did like this clay mask. You get 50ml of product in here, which is pretty standard for drugstore face masks, but I felt like I got through it really quickly.

Repurchase? Maybe

Soap & Glory Raidance Boosting Sheet Mask

I don’t buy sheet masks anymore but I still have some so I might as well use them up. This mask was so serumy, it was literally running into my eyes. This is described as a party mask and I think that’s pretty accurate as it does perk up the skin but doesn’t do anything with a long-lasting effect.

Repurhase? No

Maybelline Dream Urban Cover

This is a light and easy to use coverage product that I’ve enjoyed during lockdown as just something to apply quickly if I felt like wearing makeup. The scent is quite a strong sunscreen type smell that  I didn’t like and the shade is a bit too dark for my normal skintone but it’s fine when I tanned. I do prefer the Missha BB Cream but the Maybelline is easier to get so I would use this again.

Repurchase? Maybe

wet n wild PhotoFocus Concealer

This is a great cheap concealer that I don’t really hear anyone talking about. The shade range is crap, at least in the UK, but it has good coverage and a nice finish that’s not too matte or drying as a coverage concealer.

Repurchase? Yes

The Body Shop Honey Bronzer

It’s a sad day. I have officially decided to part ways with my beloved Honey Bronzer. This was my favourite for a few years but I haven’t used it in a while and it just doesn’t seem to have the same pigment that it used to so I think it’s time to move on.

Repurchase? Yes when I finish up some bronzers

Urban Decay Honey Infused Lip Therapy in Drizzle

I think I got this in a beauty box a couple of years ago so I’m glad to have used it up. This was a kind of gloss/balm hybrid that was easy to wear. I’ve found that you can still get this on Amazon but I’m pretty sure it was discontinued.

Repurchase? Probably not

Bath & Body

I Heart Revolution x Soph Body Mist

I’m so happy to have finally used this stuff up. I love Soph but I hated the scent of this body spray. It reminded me of the cheap, sweet-smelling body mists of my teenage years and honestly, I’m just glad I didn’t have to wear it out of the house! Not the scent for me.

Repurchase? No

M&S Bubble Bath

I like these foam baths from M&S. They’re probably not worth the price per other affordable bubble baths but the scents are nice, the packaging is good and they last just as well as any other.

Repurchase? Maybe if I need to order from M&S again

ThisWorks Deep Sleep Pillow Spray

I got a few of these minis in a set. It’s a nice product- not sure it actually helps with sleep but it smells nice and I like using it.

Repurchase? No, but would use again

Superdrug Firm Hold Hairspray

I think it’s cool that Superdrug offers affordable hairspray with the choice of hold. I picked up the firm hold number 3 but it just didn’t have enough hold for my thick hair. It was very weightless on my hair and didn’t leave me with that crusty hairspray feeling but it just didn’t work for me.

Repurchase? Not this type, no

I’m on a no buy for July now, simply because I have so much stuff to get through so I’m hoping to focus more on throwing products into my empties bag and less on adding to the clutter.

In June, only three of the products I used up were clearly recyclable so the packaging and the things I buy is also something I’m becoming more conscious of.

    1. Yeah it’s worth trying out for the price but the shade range isn’t great or at least not in the UK. I would say it’s kind of a medium coverage- not a thin concealer but not super thick and drying either
