October Empties 2020

I can’t believe how late in the month is is already! October was a big month for clearing out products that was on their last few uses. Let’s get into it!

Makeup

BH Cosmetics Eyelights in Gnarly

I don’t know why more people aren’t talking about these. They’re stunning liquid eyeshadows and this the blue shade has just about gone now. They do dry up fairly quickly but you don’t get tons of product in here so it is possible to use them up.

Repurchase? Yes when I’ve used up some similar products

Colourpop x Kathleenlights Super Shock Highlight in On the Cusp

Some of the product did crumble off at the end but I’ve called this done. The super shock formula applies best tapped on with a finger so I liked this for quick looks but it is a bit more metallic than my tastes these days.

Repurchase? Probably not

I Heart Revolution Banana Split Primer

My full review of this primer is linked above. It’s not really what I was expecting but it was okay if you like a glow and want an affordable alternative to the BECCA Backlight Filter.

Repurchase? No

Bourjois Healthy Mix Illuminating Base

Another glowy primer! This is meant to be a dupe of the By Terry CC serum and while it probably doesn’t have the same skincare benefits, it gives a similar glow to the skin.

Repurchase? Can’t get Bourjois anymore

Cover FX Custom Highlighting Drops

I’ve had this mini liquid highlighter for ages now but it’s just a bit too intense for my tastes these days.

Repurchase? No

Skincare

Glow Recipe Pineapple C Brightening Serum

I really enjoyed this serum and felt like my skin looked a lot healthier and brighter when I was using it. Plus, it has gorgeous packaging.

Repurchase? I have another to use

Revolution Glycolic Acid Toner

Does anyone remember the Freedom brand version of this? I’m convinced it’s the same but that was way cheaper which annoys me. Anyway, this is a good dupe for the Pixi Glow Tonic if you use that but my skin does go off glycolic acid sometimes so I won’t use anything like this for a while.

Repurchase? Probably not

Lancome Energie De Vie Mosituriser

I love Lancome and this gorgeous green glass packaging is very lux but I don’t need this product. There’s a really similar L’Oreal gel moisturiser (aren’t they owned by the same company? I’ve noticed this with their products a lot.)

Repurchase? No

Pixi Glow Mud Cleanser

Really gentle and effective cleanser for a second step cleanse. It’s a creamy formula and quite thick so you don’t need a lot but I probably wouldn’t use this with other glycolic products as it might be too much for my skin.

Repurchase? Maybe

Peter Thomas Roth Pumpkin Enzyme Mask

This face mask is one of my faves, perfect for this time of year and also really good at brightening and exfoliating. If you have pigmentation or scarring you want to clear up, I think you’ll like this. It’s pricey but the full size is 150ml which is a lot more product than most cheaper masks.

Repurchase? Yes

The Ordinary Niacinamide

I have a strange relationship with niacinamide- I loved the effects when I first opened the bottle but then it just didn’t do much for me after a while. This is an ingredient that is in a lot of skincare already so I don’t necessarily need this again.

Repurchase? No

Tarte Drink of H2O Hydrating Boost

This was a really soothing and light gel moisturiser which I enjoyed and I also loved the packaging of this mini but Tarte isn’t the easiest brand to get hold of in the UK and I don’t love it enough to go out of my way to buy the full size.

Repurchase? No but would use again

Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate

I’m gad I got to try this mini face oil as I never thought I’d like oils on my already quite oily skin but this one was nice and soothing as a night treatment. It didn’t give me the wow effect I would want from a product at this price range but it was good.

Repurchase? No

Bath & Body

Radox Muscle Soak Bath Salts

I’ve used loads of these now and find them a lot more effective than most bath salts.

Repurchase? Yes

L’Occitane Shower Gel

This was nice mini that I got in a beauty box or free gift or something. Smelt really good and enjoyed using but I never buy expensive shower gel for myself.

Repurchase? No

Boots Baby Bedtime Bath Bubbles

I bought this because I thought it would have less fragrance and therefore be better for my skin which I think it probably is but I can’t really tell.

Repurchase? Maybe

Haircare

The Inkey List Chia Seed Curl Defining Hair Treatment

This was fine and did the job but I think you can find better value for money. The packaging is cool (and can be recycled!) but you don’t get much product in here and it didn’t work any better for me than any other curl cream.

Repurchase? No

Living Proof Style Extender Spray

I got this in a beauty box or something as it’s not something I would buy for myself. It didn’t really do anything for my hair sadly.

Repurchase? No

Color Wow Dream Coat

I didn’t think much to this at first but I think it’s because you have to blow dry your hair which I never used to do. Now I’ve started using it more, it does make a difference to the texture of my hair and makes it a lot smoother after blow drying.

Repurchase? Yes

Aussie Miracle Moist Hair Conditioning Spray

My hair gets quite dry and frizzy so I like to have something like this to use. Plus, Aussie products smell great.

Repurhase? Yes

Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Moisture

This is the deep conditioning treatment from the same range. I try a lot of treatments but this is a good go-to.

Repurchase? Yes

Neutrogena T-Gel

Mentioned this product countless times but it’s the only thing that works for my flaky scap.

Repurchase? Already have

Sol De Janeiro Brazilian Joia Shampoo & Conditioner

As expected, these sample products smelt incredible and the scent was really long-lasting in my hair which I liked but they didn’t do anything better than any other shampoo and conditioner do otherwise.

Repurchase? No

Misc

PS…Hydrate Priming Sheet Mask

I don’t really remember what I thought of this but I think Primark face masks are okay for the price, I’m just not buying sheet masks anymore.

Repurchase? No

Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask

I got the apple lime scent which was really nice but I’ve found that I just don’t really need this product. I like applying it when I go to bed and waking up with soft lips but lip balm does the same job for me and Laneige isn’t the easiest to get in the UK.

Repurchase? Maybe

Skin Food Avocado Lip Scrub

Just like the sleeping mask, a lip scrub isn’t something I need very often but I think we can all see why I was drawn in when the packaging is a tiny avocado!

Repurchase? Probably not

Utan & Tone Coconut Tanning Water

There is a bit left but I’ve had this way longer than the recommended six months. I liked using this as a facial tan but I didn’t reach for it much so it soon expired.

Repurchase? Maybe

Recycle count: I was able to recycle or reuse 12 out of 37 things here

  1. So many empties…good job! I love the 3 minute Aussie mask. I wish they offered a jumbo size. Haha. I also love the pumpkin mask…didn’t even know all the benefits that pumpkins had. Guess the pumpkin pie I’ve been eating is doing wonders too. haha jk

  2. I’ve actually hit pan on my Colourpop On the Cusp, I put it in the makeup bag I keep in my purse for touch-ups on the go and I’m planning on finishing it too. It’s so beautiful!
