Charlotte Tilbury The Queen Matte Revolution Lipstick Review

I have a few Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks now but this is my first review, specifically about the matte revolution lipstick in the shade The Queen which is the most recent addition to my collection.

Packaging

Like everything else the brand does, Charlotte Tilbury just gets packaging right. The Matte Revolution lipsticks come in a stunning gold tube that feels quite weighty and lux. The lipsticks all have stickers on the bottom to say what shade it is so I have them stored upside down so I can tell which shade is which.

Price

Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution lipsticks retail for £25 in the UK. Not so long ago, I would never have paid that much for a lipstick but this does feel like a luxury purchase if you have the budget and want to treat yourself.

Shade

I love all the Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks I have but this is specifically about the shade The Queen which is a bright pink.

Below, I’ve swatched The Queen next to Colourpop Disney Lux Lip in Jasmine and The Body Shop Matte Liquid Lip in Tahiti Hibiscus which are the closest shades I have in my collection. Obviously the formulas are different but Tahiti Hibiscus is a pretty close colour match.

Application

I love the shape of Charlotte Tilbury’s matte lipsticks. They’re squared off at the top which makes them super easy to apply. Even with this bold shade, you can get a precise application of this without needing a lip liner. The matte revolution lipsticks are a satin matte texture and The Queen is no exception to that, applying smoothly without dragging or feeling dry on the lips.

Wear

On me, this lasts around 4-5 hours without any noticeable fading. It does fade a little in the centre with eating and drinking and will disappear completely if you eat something greasy but I would say the lasting time is what you can expect from a bullet lipstick.

Overall, I think The Queen is a gorgeous fuchsia shade. I love wearing bold lipsticks for myself and for looking more put together when I don’t want to wear a lot of makeup. If you don’t have the budget or don’t want to spend this much on a lipstick, you don’t need this but I would recommend trying out a Charlotte Tilbury lipstick if you’ve always wanted to.
